happy monday morning to you!!

junking and digging for 'junk' is something i love love love to do and inherited from a few generations before me. my great grandfather had garages, workshops, and sheds full of good 'junk' and treasures. you name it he had it. i wish my craving for junk had started before they sold the property he used to live on.. but unfortunately i was too young at the time. good jeans run deep in the lane family though, and it is hard for me to pass up any garage, antique or junk sale along the road or in town. passing by a junk pile, i have to sit on my hands to not jump out of the truck to start digging. true story. 

you don't always find something you need to take home, but smelling, touching and rummaging in search for that one treasure is worth it every time!

on friday morning the only thing keeping me from rolling up my sleeves a little higher and digging a little deeper was the fact that there were ticks, snakes and grass too tall.. reaching into a possible snake nest did not sound like fun at all. 

i didn't walk away with any treasures this time around- but you never know what might be in the next pile. one mans trash is another mans treasure!

if you've been following the news in the past two weeks, you've heard of all the crazy storms and tragic tornados that have hit in and oklahoma.

last friday, we watch as the storms moved south and north of the ranch. after the rain blessed the ranch with 1/2" the skies blessed us with some beautiful pictures. the skies cleared and changed from orange to blues and we were amazed until the sunset behind the prairie. 

its moments like these we are reminded how great our Creator is... God is good!

someone in the surrounding area is having their pastures sprayed for weeds today.. which means loud, low flying planes right above the ranch!
sp ran out and snapped a few of this cool yellow plane for me to share with yall... wings up!

WATER GAPS

 

its been all over the news recently, the severe weather has made its mark in oklahoma. and while there have been horrible tornado disasters all over the state, the ranch has thankfully been spared from any touching down. we are very thankful for the rain, the ponds, creeks and grass was begging for it-  but with the large amounts of rain comes quickly rising waters and forceful waters rushing down the creek beds. and that means the waters can quickly wipe out the fences and posts in the creek beds - which means water gaps need fixin' to keep the cattle and horses in the right pastures.
so sp and i loaded up the gator and headed out early last week to get the work done. in some spots he was submerged in the creek mid belly... and keep in mind the waters are nice and crisp. and by crisp i mean cold!
on our way back to the house the sun came out and we even found a few pretty wild flowers that are still going strong in the kitchen window!
