after all day on the beach, a breezy dress and natural beach waves is one of my favorite things!

WEEKEND

is it just me, or was this a really long week?! thank goodness its the weekend and we are on to margaritas and laughter and poolside adventure!

a few favorites from this week: 

 + + have you heard?! 'wine-sicles' are all the rage this summer. there are all kinds of recipes on pintrest right now.. we made some last weekend and turns out that red wine mixed with pomegranate juice (frozen in these little popsicle makers) is easy, and just as tasty! cheers :)

+ + if you are headed to a pool party this weekend, don't forget your 'bikini bag' !

+ + sweet aubrey, who built my blog, is expecting!! you should follow along as her baby bump grows and as she shares her pregnancy journey on her blog. also… her gender-reveal was just the cutest!! 

tassels are everywhere right now, but i just love how she incorporated this cutest from studio mucci!

ROUND TOP | SPRING 2014

Twice a year there is a massive gather. a gathering of junkers, collectors, junk gypsies and diggers alike in Round Top, Texas. 

Have you been or heard of this heaven before?! 

If you are a 'junker' and have thought of going, but have not taken the leap... its time. 

Mark your calendars for the fall 2014 show, book your stay and make your way there. You will not be disappointed. Trust me. 

Personally I like to find the best deal in town. And by town, I mean in on of the many fields, where there is junk as far as the eyes can see. 

Digging and bargaining for the 'one of a kind' treasure is what its all about! 

It's also about the fellow junk gypsies you will meet and come to love, and run into year after year. 

But it's also about the down time. 

Literally. Down time. There is spotty cell phone reception, if any!

I like getting away for the weekend with girl friends, staying at the coziest of bed and breakfast', walking for miles to see, touch and smell as much junk as you possibly can, and coming back for drinks, dinner and camaraderie until you can't keep your eyes open anymore!

if you follow me on instagram then you probably saw a few of these pictures a few weeks ago. 

every year, sp and i take a ski (snowboard) trip to the mountains, and this was the second year in a row we went with two great friends! sp's best friend and his wife- mr and mrs coe. 

love em!

when i started going through  pictures from the week i realized there were too many favorites to choose from, so i apologize for the picture overload - but i couldn't help myself - they all make me smile!

    

 

we are clearly total cheese-balls at times... selfie-kiss-pic is the new thing, right?!

we try to take a double handstand pic every year we go. this year we decided it would be a good idea to try this at the top of the mountain.. lets just say its super hard at 12,840 elevation to nail a handstand... clearly!

i love that we have this tradition with good friends!

already looking forward to next year- maybe invite a few more friends and make it a fun week of friends, snow, drinks, fun and games!

this little pie and coffee shop is the cutest you ever did see!

in one of the adorable little houses on round top square you will find royers pie haven. 

there are not many places to find a good cup of coffee in round top - but this is a must enjoy spot. 

you might have heard of royers round top cafe. 

it's hard to miss when there are only a handful of dining options when in round top. 

royers has been around for a good while- known for 'bud' how runs the place and sits on the front porch to take your reservation. and for their amazing pies!

so its no surprise they have expanded and opened this adorable little 'pie haven'!

here you can even order pie for breakfast - pie cookies. savory pies. the list goes on. 

we stopped here two mornings for breakfast - the joe does not disappoint. 

the 'bobbies' breakfast pie was a little on the dry side but the pie-wiches were unreal. 

if you are passing through, or staying for antiques week- this place is a must try!

ROUND TOP || FALL 2013

for the love of junk - round top, texas, is the mecca of junk!!!

and if you love junk, live in the south- its a journey you need to take. add it to your bucket list. 

this past weekend was the kick-off to fall antique week in round top and we were there to get our junk fix. it was as humid as you would expect... 95% humidity on the last weekend in september - totally normal. we walked and walked and walked for miles every day through the fields of vendors set up from all over the nation to see, feel, and smell all things old, rusty and peely. 

it was amazing. 

we did not come home with any major treasures but we had a blast non-the less 

and soaked up as much time with the old stuff as possible!

if you are following me on instagram, i documented my gypsy look each day.. somehow forgetting day 3- the junk must have been really good that day!! but the hair down on day one only lasted until we walked the first field, and then the hair went up and stayed up for the rest of the weekend!

this little 'coffee bug' has been coming to round top for years.. the front of this trailer is an old VW bug hooked up to a camper. the guy has made it into a coffee bar! complete with a tip jar to 'slow boat to tahiti' one day! 

the fields at la bahia are maybe my favorite place to start. 

its not too big - it has amazing dealers and the prices are just right too!!

we stumbled upon a new, darling georgia peach 'kara' who comes down from georgia every year.

her set up is amazing. her style and finds are even better!

this year she loaded up some amazing bolts of fabrics- i wanted them all!!

if your are in or close to tyrone, georgia you have to visit this sweet girl - shes opening her own store!!

oh a texas country sunset.... always amazing!

stepping into this venders booth smelt like stepping into an old tackle barn- the old leather, spurs and cowboy finds were so fun to dig though!

and sheds... they were everywhere this year. deer, mule deer, elk, you name it. 

they were selling it, decorating with it - all by the pound. 

gather as many as you wanted and it was weighed on a big scale ... $13/lbs. 

crazy what people find for free put a sale price one!

it was such a fun girls weekend!

the laughter, memories, margaritas and miles walked were all a blast- already counting down the days until the next show. might have to head back in the spring, if fall just seems to far away at that point!

NEWPORT BEACH: A DOUBLE WEDDING

and now for the much awaited details and pictures from the beautiful weeding weekend in newport beach.... there was no time to carry around my big nikon with me- not exactly what fits into a clutch! -  so the iphone had to do the trick from start to finish! 

i broke down the wedding events from the weekend... hope this makes it easier to follow along...

it all happened between early saturday morning and landing back in dallas on monday evening. talk about a fun filled, whirlwind kinda weekend!! 

R O U N D    O N E :

we left the airport and headed straight for brunch at  w o o d y 's   w h a r f. 

there we were greeted with bottomless mimosas and some very large and yummy brunch portions. 

this is a recommended stop if you are looking for a fun group brunch - $14 for bottomless and brunch!

love these girls and the friendship i have with each of them!

R O U N D    T W O :

the same night we met up in the hills of newport beach, overlooking balboa, in a private home for a reception to honor both brides and their grooms! the view was breathtaking. the decorations, foods, and drinks were wonderful as well. but celebrating with friends for this special occasion was just the best!

the reason we made the trip- the wedding!!

it finally came together and went off without a hick-up - it was simply beautiful and so full of joy and love all around. the brides were glowing, the grooms were holding back tears- it was priceless!!

(maybe just a small time delay- but hey, its a wedding - the bride(s) get to call the shots!)

can you believe the emotions this daddy faced... walking two daughters down the isle on the same day... the same ceremony even. i can't believe he made it without tears running down his face!

first caroline and david were announced husband and wife... 

and then sarabeth and karson!!

karson went in for two kisses- so cute to see his love for sarabeth!!

 

clearly we all love us some shades of pink!!

or maybe we were just not quite ready to let go of the colors of summer?! 

love you ladies to pieces- cant wait for our next trip together. 

i am penciling in napa for 2014!

and last but not least, me and my handsome cowboy!

we got him all cleaned up... but i made sure he kept the cowboy boots with the look:)

the boat- all gussies up as we walked away from an amazing evening!

here's to the beautiful couples- we are so grateful you asked us to be apart of your special day!

NEWPORT BEACH: A PRETTY WEEKEND

this is us at the airport before embarking on what will be forever a trip we remember. 

our dear friend, college roommate and all around full of life friend sarabeth tied the knot in newport beach this past weekend.

 over labor day weekend. 

at a double wedding.

on a boat. 

at sunset.

surrounded by close family and friends.

did i mention it was a double wedding?!

today's post is all about the fun, quick, adventures we had while in newport beach/balboa over the weekend. this was the first 'official' girls and significant other trip we have been on together since college. or ever really. and we decided we travel well together - laid back, no fuss. a group that can defiantly travel together again - fingers crossed we make it an annual trip!

(not back to newport beach, but somewhere new- i have a feeling a wine trip is in our future!!)

here are a few pictures to recap our walks around town. 

we tried to walk and see as much as possible, in the little time we had between wedding festivities...

we stumbled across this cute little farmers market- i was sad not to load up on all things fresh and locally grown...

 
breakfast day 1: we were so excited to find this local favorite tucked in the little streets of the peninsula. talk about charm, cozy and worth the wait! A l t a serves organic brewed coffee- bring your own mug and get .25cents off each cup!

this cute neighborhood yoga studio was just across the street from alta/breakfast...

so wish this was the little studio was in walking distance every morning!

you just can't get enough of the amazing blue, clear skies while in california. 

hence, why i am posting so many from the weekend;)
