THE JOSHUA CODE | WEEK 21

We are on week 21 of the JOSHUA CODE.

Here is this weeks verses:

w e e k -  t w e n t y  o n e

"Follow Me, and I will make you become fisher of men."

M a r k   1 : 1 7

. . .

 A REAL FISHERMAN IS POSITIVE
HE is after those who are positive, those who see an answer in every problem, not those who look for problems in every answer. A real fisherman is positive.

A REAL FISHERMAN IS PERSISTANT
HE calls folks who have a 'never give up'  attitude, who keep on keeping on, regardless of the circumstances or situation.
A real fisherman is persistent.

A REAL FISHERMAN IS PATIENT
Jesus is still looking for men and women who are no locked into on way of doing things. HE desires us to be willing to try different methods as we fish for the souls of men. Jesus knows that a real fisherman is patient.

 A REAL FISHERMAN IS PASSIONATE
HE is calling passionate people to follow HIM. He longs for His followers to always hate to loose one.

... Learning from the Lord, I try to look for those who are passionate, persistent, patient, and passionate.

As you memorize this verse, meditate on the wonder that the Lord Jesus still uses ordinary people like you and me to do extraordinary things for His glory. Be positive; start looking for an answer in every problem. Be persistent; never give up. Be patient; try some different methods. And be passionate; always hate to lose one!
Jesus said, "Follow Me, and I will make you fisher of men."

BIG NEWS | BIG CHANGES

if you follow me on twitter, then you are here because i promised to share some news with you guys this week, and well its friday… and i had to drag it out ;)
this blog has not been a true personal outlet for the most part, but this is just something i cannot not share with you guys!

as you know.. sp is a full-time cattle rancher in oklahoma.
over the last few months we have had some serious talks, long ones, about how our relationship is going to move forward. being 5.5 hours apart is not very beneficial for a future together.  and quite honestly living on a ranch, much like ree drummond/pioneer woman, did not feel like something i wanted to do for the rest of my life. don't get me wrong, the ranch is a wonderful place, we love spending time there, but sp did not see himself wanting to work that life forever,
and i didn't want my closest neighbor to be 4 miles away.

…. all that to say, this past week sp was offered a job in dallas!
we are over the moon that God's plan for us is going to be in texas and close to my family!
this is not only a huge step for sp and his career, but also for the next steps in our relationship.
there are going to be so many new things for us to get used to.. for one, living in the same city, dating in the same city and finding our new groove of not being in a long-distance relationship.

to toast to the occasion, we enjoyed some yummy bubbles and amazing dinner at driftwood in oak cliff.

heres to you sp: to your dedication and commitment to finding a new career
and holding out for the right job!
i could not be more excited for you to be in dallas,
for us to have many more date nights, and watch God's plan unfold for us together.

and as my friend punky tolson says: 'His plan for my life, far exceeds my plans for my life'!!

we forgot to get a picture together while out for dinner… but we snapped these fun ones afterwards.

ELEVEN QUESTIONS

my blogging friend theresa has the cutest blog… she love her some outdoors and adventure with her family! secretly i think that why we are kindred spirits :)
last week she tagged me in this eleven question post and i thought it would be fun to answer the 11 questions she tagged me and several other darling bloggers!
1. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
when i was little it was: a 'flower lady' -- insert definition: german florist! a ballerina, an actress. then later on, almost up until college: a news anchor like christiane amanpour or finnuala sweeney

2. What is your most prized possession?
i don't like to think i am 'attached' to my things. but for college graduation i asked for a special 'class ring'. i didn't want your everyday typical class ring. so my mom designed the most special stackable rings for me. 4 rings that represent 4 years of college. one of the rings has my birthstone, one has her birthstone. i just so lucked out that our birthstones together are baylor 'green and gold'!

3. What is the best vacation you've ever taken? Why?
every year my family takes a trip to the beach together. we spend a whole week together, in one house. it is  just as crazy as it sounds. but its the most 'funnest' week we spend together every year. there are only 10 of us and each year it is such a sweet reminder of what family is all about.

4. What did you do last weekend?
last weekend.. friday night sp and i hosted my girl friends from college and their spouses, and now babies, for dinner on the patio! saturday we went to a local food and wine festival, and pat green concert! and sunday church, brunch and sunday sunday activities poolside!

5. Do you remember your dreams?
mostly, yes. but i sleep really deep and don't have dreams every night.

6. If there was a movie made about your life, what actor would you want to play you?
it's a tie between sandra bullock and julia roberts!

7. Where is your favorite place to travel to?
italy. the lifestyle, the food, the people. i day-dream about it a lot!

8. What is the best dish you make? (bonus: add a link to the recipe)
i love to cook! especially italian food - it's my comfort food!
my go-to, from scratch, could always have more of, is spaghetti and meat sauce!
recipe: on the blog.

9. What is your favorite room in your home? Why?
this is a tough one. i love all of the 'things' i have collected over the years in each of the rooms. but maybe my bedroom is my favorite. white sheets (always), long- flowy curtains, one of my favorite junk finds: old, peely and loved for many years, wooden mantel.

10. If you could have lunch with a famous person, who would it be?
seeing as i would love sandra or julia to play me.. i would love to sit down to lunch with these lovely ladies!

11. Which store would you choose to max out your credit card if you never had to pay it off?
so many options! i'm thinking maybe anthropologie!!
. . .

the rules say I need to tag eleven other bloggers to play along with a new set of questions. so I'm tagging:

and my eleven questions to you fabulous ladies are:
1. what or who inspires your most?
2. what is a personal accomplishment you are most proud of?
3. do you have summer travel plans?
4. what is one thing you must enjoy about blogging (your blog)?
5. what is your go-to comfort meal to cook?! (add link to recipe!)
6. mountains or beach vacation?
7. what is your favorite room (space) in your house and why?
8. what book are you currently reading?
9. how did you celebrate your last birthday?
10. what is on your bedside table?
11. what are you most grateful for today/this week?

THE JOSHUA CODE | WEEK 20

We are on week 20 of the JOSHUA CODE.

Here is this weeks verses:

w e e k -  t w e n t y

"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me;
and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God,
who loved me and gave Himself for me."

G a l a t i a n s  2 : 2 0
. . .

HE TOOK SOMETHING FROM ME: MY OLD LIFE  - "I have been crucified with Christ;"
HE PUT SOMETHING IN ME: MY NEW LIFE  - "it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me;"
HE GAVE SOMETHING FOR ME: HIS OWN LIFE -  "[He] loved me and gave Himself for me."

As you memorize this verse, meditate on the words written by Elizabeth Clephane over one hundred fifty years ago
in her  old song of faith:

"I take, O cross, thy shadow for my abiding place;
I ask no other sunshine that the sunshine of His face;
Content to let the world go by, to know no gain or loss;
My sinful self, my only shame; my glory - all the cross."

THE JOSHUA CODE | WEEK 19

We are on week 19 of the JOSHUA CODE.

Here is this weeks verses:

w e e k -  n i n e t e e n

"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face,
and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sins and heal their land"

2  C h r o n i c l e s  7 : 1 4
. . .

GOD'S DESIRE - "If My People.. then... "
GOD'S DESIGN - "If MY people...."
GOD'S DEMAND - "humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways"
GOD'S DELIGHT - "I will hear from heave, and will forgive their sin and heal the land."

'He is willing, waiting, and longing to be faithful because of conditions are are called to meet.' [...] No wonder the Bible reveals that our heavenly Father will do so much more for us! This great God, who sees a small sparrow when it falls to earth, cares much more for you (Matthew 6:25-27, 10:29). (pg 108)

As you memorize this verse, meditate on the fact that personal rival, while it is God's work, is also conditional:
"If My people... then I will hear from heaven." God has a recipe for personal revival.
Our part is not that difficult. It simply calls us to follow the directions.

THE JOSHUA CODE | WEEK 17 & 18

We are on week 17 and week 18 of the JOSHUA CODE - two this week, because last week catching up on life post my sisters beautiful wedding was exhausting!

Here is last weeks and this weeks verses:

w e e k -  s e v e n t e e n

"Jesus wept."  - John 11:35
. . .

JESUS WEEPS OVER OUR SORROWS - He is touched by our broken hearts
JESUS WEEPS OVER OUR SINS - He is troubled by our blinded eyes

'The last time tears are mentioned in the Bible is the Revelations 21:4. It reveals a beautiful scene: "God will wipe away every tear from their eyes." This is our hope. [...] King David said it best: "For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning" (Psalm 30:5).

As you memorize this verse this week, meditate on the fact that we have  a Lord who is not far off and removed. He is very near. He is the One who is touched by our broken hearts and weeps with us. And He is the One who is troubled by our blinded eyes and weeps over us.
These two little words speak volumes: "Jesus wept."
It's ok to cry.

(The Joshua Code | Page 98)

w e e k -  e i g h t e e n

"I am the resurrection and the life.
He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live."

John 11 : 25
. . .

LIFE'S BOTTOM-LINE QUESTION IS PERSONAL - Do YOU believe this?
LIFE'S BOTTOM-LINE QUESTION IS POINTED - Do you BELIVE this?
LIFE'S BOTTOM-LINE QUESTION IS PRECISE - Do you believe THIS?

Note: Martha's reply in the next verse:
"Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world" (John 11:27).

As you memorize this verse, meditate on Martha's reply. Would you join her by simply professing to Him, "Yes, Lord, I believe that You are Christ!" And then you will begin the great adventure for which you were created in the first place.

(The Joshua Code | Page 103)

I pray that you continue to come back to the blog for the weekly verses as we learn and memorize scripture verses together and grow in faith and love together!
