a few months a go i stumbled across one of these and thought it was just the cutest idea ever for the bride to have with her for the day of the wedding!

i thought about purchasing one, but then i saw the price... and thought again. 

so i figured i would go about making my own for my sister.

... now i know why the price was so high! getting all of the ingredients together is no joke!

i asked my friend at southern belle monograms to personalized the bag for me, then i went about filling it with all of the fun details!

i covered several cloth pins with glitter- we used these to 'pin the panties' at the lingerie shower. 

i also purchased the really simple champagne flutes from ikea and covered them with glitter -

it made for a very girly and personal table when we sat down for sinner at SAVOR!

BACHELORETTE PARTY | THE DETAILS

its all about my sister bachelorette party on the blog this week!

yesterday i shared with you the perfect invitations that set the mood for the whole weekend. today i am sharing with you a look into some of the details that shaped this party into a perfectly girly pink and gold wonderland!

we framed the invitations and placed them on the front entry table along with the gifts my sister made for all of her little bridesmaids!

matching shirts with BM (bridesmaid) on the front and then her hashtag for the weekend #laneletsloose across the back of the shirts. the shirts were wrapped around a personalized jewelry bag for each girl!

since i wanted to make all the girls feel special, and thank them for making the perfect weekend happen for my sister.. i had a cute gift bag for each of them with a personalized lingerie bags! 

(white with gold stitching of course!)

as for the bride- she didn't want just another hot pink and black bachelorette sash.. so i made her a very special one... vintage lace personalized with 'future mrs. richards'!

these cups were such a hit!

i love that they combined the brides favorite quote and were a take-away for everyone at the party to remind them of all the fun, even after the weekend was over!

the cups were such a fun project to collaborate with my friend over at gunn promotionals with. 

for the lingerie shower there was no shortage of PINK and GOLD!

my mom and i made a darling felt 'pin the panties' banner.. 

my dear friend caroline's mom helped us with the oh-so delicious cake-pops! 

(this was the only 'dirty' side of the party;) !!)

we had perfect pink sofia minis for everyone chilled, a yummy cheese tray, and jd's chippery cookies!

it was so fun to see all the details come together!

i just love that everything was in-keeping with the theme and even down to the wrapping,

everything was perfectly girly and PINK and GOLD!

BACHELORETTE PARTY | THE INVITATIONS

putting together my sisters bachelorette weekend was not a light task!

but having amazing vendors and lots of helping hands made it such a fun experience!

first things first, i wanted to find the cutest invitations. i knew etsy.com was going to be the place to start, little did i know i would find these perfect invitations!

working with kristin at LOCDesignandPaperie was so great- she totally customized the details and colors - and i must say the light pink and gold turned out exactly as i expected!

the theme throughout the weekend was all things gold, pink and girly!

these invitations were the perfect way to kick things off!

addressing envelops and sending snail mail has always been a favorite of mine. 

so i wanted to do something personal and cute on the envelopes for these invitations as well. 

i found these darling washi-tape at cute-tape - it was just what the envelopes needed to add that special something!

i've been a little under the weather the past few days... hence the not-so-personal blog. and my not-so-personal i just mean not pictures i've taken myself. 

however, i do love me some champagne - and all things cocktails, even on a monday are ok with me.

we managed to continue our weekly walk! might have skipped a week, but even with the cooler weather blowing in, we still kept our goal of at least one weekly walk together!

i have a bad tendency to just keep going back for my favorite coffee in town:

if you have not been- you should try them this weekend. its on lovers lane (next to cafe express)
and you should order the iced honey vanilla latte (one pump vanilla and skim milk) - 
trust me, its amazing! 

PRETTY PUMPKINS

 

this year my sister got all kinds of crafty when decorating for fall/halloween. 

i think it might just have something to do with the fact that its her first home:)

either way, she was ahead of me with decorating pumpkins... there are all kinds of fun ideas for spray painting pumpkins over on pinterest these days. we went for a simple and easy version!

so monday when she had off for columbus day, i loaded up on pumpkins and we sat outside and decorated a few more pumpkins for around my house. 

nothing a little spray paint and glitter cant handle!

here's what we did:

we sprayed a few pumpkins, while they are still wet, sprinkle as much glitter as you like. 

let it sit and dry before moving them to the porch or indoors (spray is a little strong!!)

and when your spending time with your sister, sometimes things get a little silly...!!

we have moved on from weddings, first homes, and stock the bar parties.. 

to friends having babies!

our dear friends dylan and kristin found out just recently they are expecting - with a special delivery to arrive in february!

to share the excitement and and joy with them, they agreed to share the moment they found out if they were having a baby girl or baby boy with us.... so we hosted a 'baby gender reveal party' surrounded with close family and bestest of friends!

here are the darling mommy and daddy to-be just moments before finding out!!

CHALKBOARD CREATIVITY

happy friday sweet readers!

today,  i have a pretty little treat for you... 

as you've seen above, there is some major talent on the blog today. this talent is from my dear friend, becky. she makes these beautiful chalkboards for family, friends and now is started to sell them! because thats just how talented she is:)

i have turned to becky for all my chalkboard needs (and good long talks!) including the most recent one i commissioned her for when i hosted a baby gender reveal party a few weeks ago (see the 'ten little fingers....' board above). 

so i decided it was time to spread her talents and share it with you! this talent should not be a secret anymore which is why i had becky send over some pictures of her favorite boards and ask her a few questions about her work: 

1- When did you discover you had this amazing talent? 

"Throughout school I was always doodling while taking notes.  I never considered myself an artist, but would love to make art in words.  It wasn't until I saw a quote on Pinterest writing in a funky way and thought, "I could do that".  So I started copying artwork and playing around with chalk at home.  Once I discovered the chalk board paint pens that conveyed extreme precision, it was all down hill from there."

2- Is there chalkboard you are most proud of? Why? 

"I am most proud of the chalkboard I made for my mom (the 'patty' board above') on her birthday.  It was the first that I designed myself without the help of Pinterest.  I collected a list of words and phrases from my dad and siblings to put on the board.  As we all know, shopping for our parents can be difficult, and I felt like I was able to express how much I love and appreciate her through this board." 

3- How do you know when a work is finished?

"When a work is finished?? It varies.  Sometimes it is texting a friend(you:) to ask what they think.  Sometimes it is adding a fun border with scrolly touches.  I'm learning more and more to go outside the box with my creativity.  I erase ALOT! But mostly, I give it a day or so to just look at the board and decide "Ok, that's enough." "

4- Have you ever thought of selling these amazing boards on etsy?! 

"I would love to sell my boards on etsy.  Maybe I'm afraid of failure, and that my artwork would not hold up to the other pieces offered on Etsy. "

Other thoughts from my beautiful friend and the artist:

"I enjoy being a part of the boards that are for others.  To hear the way they admire and love their friends or families.  It is a unique gift that shows they truely care, and I feel honored to be a part of that. 

I have yet to find a good position to do the boards in.  I'm mainly on the floor, and after an hour or so, my knees are killing me. 

My husband can always tell when I start feeling really good about a board because I will go for a glass of wine to put on the finishing touches.

I feel like my best work is done when I can replicate a design.  I have fun creating new designs, but have yet to gain full confidence in it."

PROJECT PINEAPPLE | PART 2

a few weeks ago i posted about my 'project pineapple' and told y'all i would keep you posted on the progress. today is progress report today!

this little pineapple grew its roots really slowly...

if the rooting process is any indication, we might be waiting for any type of fruit for a good, long, while.  but finally this little 'plant that could' was ready to being it's next stage of life. 

it moved from a mason jar to a grown-up pot!

i am no pineapple growing expert but heres what i did:

remove plant top with roots from mason jar

prepare pot with nutrient-filled soil

dig deep whole for roots to stand in

cover roots with soil 

water

watch and wait for it to grow!

apparently pineapples are super easy to grow. 

they don't require much work or effort. 

very little water or care...

so grow on little guy!!

PROJECT PINEAPPLE

maybe its just me, but i have see a few pins on pinterest lately with people saving the tops of their pineapples, planting them and watching them grow. i love me some pinterest ideas and this one seemed easy, free and worth a try. 

so on my past visit to the new grocery store greatness of trader joe's i picked up a pineapple as my 'sweet treat' while on the cleanse.. might i had this is the most tasty and juicy pineapple i've ever cut into. it perfect.. hence i ate half of it while cutting it up for deserts later this week - oops!!

here's part one of  'p r o j e c t   p i n e a p p l e':

cut off the top leafy part

peel back a few layers of the bottom leafs

poke 3 toothpicks or skewers in the sides

sit in a glass of water

...

wait for roots to sprout 

...

part two of  'p r o j e c t    p i n e a p p l e' will follow in a few days on the blog when the roots are ready to be planted! 

in the mean time, i will be enjoying this every so yummy fruit....
