CLASSROOM CUTENESS

the 'little miss lane' is a first grade teacher and has the cutest room ever! before her kiddos find their new desk and chair next week, i went to visit her classroom to help with the little things... like tying bows, decorating calendars and finding storage solutions for the trim, boarders, charts, oh my!

i took a picture of a cute little note she has at her desk from a student last year:
Thank You, God, for... Ms Lane.
someone is doing their job right!

the fish tank is a new addition to the room.
meet 'squirt' and 'dori'.
friends of ours have a 3 year old and each month they take on a service project to help someone else. last month it was a police officer, this month it was a teacher! the idea behind the project is to teach their little man about helping others- so cute!

proud of my little sister and the love she has for her job.
those new little first graders sure are lucky!

too all teachers out there: thank you for all you do!!

MORNING MARVEL

morning marvel
if you've been following the blog... then you already know about my new morning habit: walking with the sunrise. yes, its early- but its so worth it.

this morning i captured this picture on my iPhone.. lens flare and all!
(no filter, just a tilt-shift to focus on the sun)
a friend of mine likes to call the lens flares 'angels captured on film'... if thats the case, there were several angels on my walk with me this morning!!

PEELY PERFECTION

this past weekend was quite the success in terms of food and junking-finds. my dear friend mrs. ellis needed a few pieces for her home... and asked for my help! i'm up for a junking trip, decorating and saturday morning adventure anytime!

details first: 3rd saturday of the month, head to mckinney's 'old red lumber yard' to dig for junking gold. while your there, don't forget to grab a yummy bite to eat with a refreshing tea at PATINA GREEN on the square!

junk

here's what we found:
a beautiful old, peely, with 10 coats of paint pie display hutch.
this pretty hutch now has a home in the dining room of the lovely mr and mrs ellis--filled with wedding china (which had not been unpacked in their 3 years of marriage), stemware and pretty accent pieces to bring the old and modern feel of their home together.

i love how it turned out, don't you?!

SUMMER NIGHTS

Summer Nights
summer might not be my most favorite time of the year living in texas... its hotter than hot for about 6 months. yes, 6. but when the summer storms roll in and 'cool' things off for a few hours its a true texas treat.
we were lucky to have a summer storm on the night we headed out to the local rodeo... and it made for a pretty sunset over the area that i captured on the iPhone. here's to the summer heat ending early (fingers crossed)!

MORNINGS

for blog

trying something new this week: walking with the sunrise.
getting out of bed in the mornings is the hard part- but once i'm up the calm and quietness of it are worth not hitting the 'snooze' button 2 more times.

my new route includes the beautiful lake/creek i took a snapshot of this morning. iPhone, no filter, right after sunrise- something to get out of bed for again tomorrow!

SURPRISINGLY EASY

CURLES
if my hair is not pulled back for yoga, then i like to take the time and curl it. by nature my hair is wavy, but it needs a little taming and tending to for the most part. lately i was feeling like my curls looked a little too dressy and needed to calm down. i came across this pintrest pin the other day and thought i would give it a go.

i LOVE the outcome and wanted to share the how-to with my lovely readers.

**side note: i didn't use the exact same products listed in the tutorial, just similar and i left the curls in the bun more like 30-40 minutes.

SIXTEEN

Birthday
yesterday i realized something: i have to grow up. really i already knew that, but yesterday the little girl i started nannying for 13 years ago turned SIXTEEN! i think i was in a state of denial during the celebrations. her now 14 year old sister is taller than me and i started rocking her when she was just a few weeks old. time flies.
crazy on top of that: we all lived a street apart from each other while in germany, and now we are just a 20 minutes away from each other again back in texas. life if funny sometimes.

wishing this beautiful young lady the happiest of birthdays, filled with love, laughter and beautiful memories!! (and safe driving- NO TEXTING!!)

THIS FACE

If you read my blog, you know that my good friends TEAM HATCHELL made this amazing little life that I just can't get enough of.

Yesterday I made her an adorable pom-pom headband inspired by the beautiful
Kelli Murray's DIY on her pretty blog.
I was so excited about it, that I also made her a second one with a flower!
Of course I couldn't wait for her to model it, so I stopped by for a visit after her afternoon nap and she was all about the headbands.. and the posing- she's a pro!!

Enjoy!!
Her expressions are making me smile all over again today!

Snail Mail

Writing and receiving 'snail mail' has always been a favorite of mine. Living oceans away from family growing up we would always send real letters back and forth... so pretty stationary, pens and stamps have been a weakness every since I was a little girl!

Do you still send snail mail?!

Pick-Me-Up

pickmeup

It's feels like the days are getting longer... my guess is, it's due to the endless heat here in Dallas. No rain, no forecast for rain...just hot and more hot. I've even stopped looking at the weather forecast on my phone, because it's more than likely to report: over 100 and 0% chance of rain. Why even look!?
Getting me through the long days is lots and lots of water, and mid-day coffee to keep me going and awake!

I love my single-serve coffee maker- perfect for an iced coffee in the afternoon!
(Forgot to mention, I got it for 20bucks .. yeah its that great!)
