DAY THIRTEEN + MOTHERS DAY

yesterday we celebrated mothers day with a little twist: my sister and i prepared sunday supper for the whole lane clan. dinner for 10 coming right up!
we wanted to serve something simple, yummy, family style and not too heavy since we were eating al-fresco to enjoy the beautiful spring day. 
so here's the menu: large summer salad (throw in all your favorites) and chicken parmesan served family style.
we set a simple table, burlap string to tie the napkins and silverware together, mason jars with candles and fresh cut flowers from moms back yard. 
and for desert... a very delicious assortment of mini 'nothing bundt cakes' my aunt brought to share!

it was so nice to celebrate the moms of the group and have everyone together:) 

as for day 13 of the #blogeverdayinmay.. the topic is to write a public apology... so here's mine: 
i'm very sorry to all my sweet readers that i did not take better pictures from yesterdays events - it was more about the family being together then capturing the day on film.. i'm hope you can understand:)

DAY TWELVE: WHAT I MISS

first, this blogging on the weekend thing is rather difficult. even harder on mothers day. hence the 9pm post on a sunday evening. technically still within the time limited of blogging on a sunday;)

today's #blogeverdayinmay topic is 'something you miss'... well i don't miss it every day, but there are some days where i miss the simplicity, slow and charming characteristics from the little town we grew up in for 13 years in germany. 
the little house above, covered in vines, is where we called home before moving back to the states. it was just behind the old cite gates and it was on the historical city walking tour! 
you had to duck your head to walk in the front door.. i could go on for a paragraph will all the 'cute' characteristics of this home.. it was perfectly imperfect!

DAY ELEVEN: 10 WORDS

day 11 of the #blogeverydayinmay challge.. 'sell yourself in 10 words'. i think it turned more into things that mean the most to me, which i guess are good attributes about myself, that would in essence i guess be selling points...

DAY 10: EMBARRASSING SPILL

day ten of the #blogeverydayinmay challege.. Most embarrassing moment (s). Spill:

there are a few, really, really embarrassing moments i can think of (i've tried to block them out) but that seem possibly inappropriate for the blogging world. so i thought of one that i can share with you and still want to show my face here again...soon. 

while finishing off my last year of college, i lived close enough to campus to walk or bike to/from class. on the regular i would ride my bike, normally handsfree while talking on the phone. (have you already figured out where this is going?!)

i was on my way home after class and had stopped to treat myself to a overpriced iced coffee . i was on the phone (like always) but to be sure you have a full visual:

i took the same route i did every time. but they had recently started construction on campus, and as i passed the construction entrance it happened... 

my front tire tripped up in the gravel and i lost control.. i didnt have time to drop the phone, and coffee to regain control of the wheel. 

so there i went- flying over the front handlebars in the middle of campus. 

sunglasses and phone went flying, scraped the knee of my jeans and bent the handlebars... but by gosh i saved the $5 coffee, without spilling a drop!

there were only a few people around (thank heavens). so i gathered my scattered items and walked my bike home as quickly as possible.

DAY NINE: ONE MOMENT

it makes me smile just looking at this picture...

todays #blogeverydayinmay topic is to share a 'moment of your day'. and while this 'moment' is from a few days ago it's still a favorite! SP was in town and we had made time that morning to just sit and enjoy our conversation with yummy coffee and perfect spring weather on the patio! 

nothing like homemade cappuccinos made with love to make your heart smile:)
