THE JOSHUA CODE | WEEK 21

We are on week 21 of the JOSHUA CODE.

Here is this weeks verses:

w e e k -  t w e n t y  o n e

"Follow Me, and I will make you become fisher of men."

M a r k   1 : 1 7

. . .

 A REAL FISHERMAN IS POSITIVE
HE is after those who are positive, those who see an answer in every problem, not those who look for problems in every answer. A real fisherman is positive.

A REAL FISHERMAN IS PERSISTANT
HE calls folks who have a 'never give up'  attitude, who keep on keeping on, regardless of the circumstances or situation.
A real fisherman is persistent.

A REAL FISHERMAN IS PATIENT
Jesus is still looking for men and women who are no locked into on way of doing things. HE desires us to be willing to try different methods as we fish for the souls of men. Jesus knows that a real fisherman is patient.

 A REAL FISHERMAN IS PASSIONATE
HE is calling passionate people to follow HIM. He longs for His followers to always hate to loose one.

... Learning from the Lord, I try to look for those who are passionate, persistent, patient, and passionate.

As you memorize this verse, meditate on the wonder that the Lord Jesus still uses ordinary people like you and me to do extraordinary things for His glory. Be positive; start looking for an answer in every problem. Be persistent; never give up. Be patient; try some different methods. And be passionate; always hate to lose one!
Jesus said, "Follow Me, and I will make you fisher of men."

BIG NEWS | BIG CHANGES

if you follow me on twitter, then you are here because i promised to share some news with you guys this week, and well its friday… and i had to drag it out ;)
this blog has not been a true personal outlet for the most part, but this is just something i cannot not share with you guys!

as you know.. sp is a full-time cattle rancher in oklahoma.
over the last few months we have had some serious talks, long ones, about how our relationship is going to move forward. being 5.5 hours apart is not very beneficial for a future together.  and quite honestly living on a ranch, much like ree drummond/pioneer woman, did not feel like something i wanted to do for the rest of my life. don't get me wrong, the ranch is a wonderful place, we love spending time there, but sp did not see himself wanting to work that life forever,
and i didn't want my closest neighbor to be 4 miles away.

…. all that to say, this past week sp was offered a job in dallas!
we are over the moon that God's plan for us is going to be in texas and close to my family!
this is not only a huge step for sp and his career, but also for the next steps in our relationship.
there are going to be so many new things for us to get used to.. for one, living in the same city, dating in the same city and finding our new groove of not being in a long-distance relationship.

to toast to the occasion, we enjoyed some yummy bubbles and amazing dinner at driftwood in oak cliff.

heres to you sp: to your dedication and commitment to finding a new career
and holding out for the right job!
i could not be more excited for you to be in dallas,
for us to have many more date nights, and watch God's plan unfold for us together.

and as my friend punky tolson says: 'His plan for my life, far exceeds my plans for my life'!!

we forgot to get a picture together while out for dinner… but we snapped these fun ones afterwards.
follow me on instagram for more, fun and random pictures of the life of the lane!

THE JOSHUA CODE | WEEK 7

starting monday off right can impact the rest of your week!
i like to think that for the most part i try to stick to this simple routine:

first things first:
W O R D  I N
W O R K   O U T
W O R K  P L A N
i try to wake up, spend time in the word
get in my workout for the day
and then get the days work done.
priorities!

we are on week 7 of the JOSHUA CODE - but if you want to catch up on the first few verses you can do so herehere and here and last weeks two catch-up verses here. take it one verse at a time, or feel free to just pick it up with us this week!

Here is last weeks and this weeks verses:

w e e k -  s e v e n
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquities of us all.

i s a i a h  5 3 : 6
. . .
sheep are dumb
sheep are directionless
sheep are defenseless
. . .
"Since we find ourselves like sheep - dumb, directionless and defenseless
(and 'since we have turned, every one, to his own way') God has come to our rescue.
(The Joshua Code, pg. 49).

"As you memorize this verse this week, meditate on that fact that 'God demonstrates His own love towards us,
in that while we were sinners, Christ dies for us' (Romans 5:8).
God does not have simply A remedy;
He has the ONLY remedy for our sin."
(The Joshua Code, pg 49).

i love what Hawkins says in the introduction of this book talking about the 'Joshua Code':
'The Joshua Code  is a challenge to keep God's Word in our mouths through memorization and to keep it in our hearts through meditation "day and night"'.
"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night,  that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success"
 j o s h u a  1 : 8

I pray that you continue to come back to the blog for the weekly verses as we learn and memorize scripture verses together and grow in faith and love together!

THE JOSHUA CODE | WEEK 5 & 6

to say last week was stressful is an understatement. i take full blame though- i fully, 100% overcommitted myself and was running around like a crazy person. somehow though, i kept breathing and trusting God for His strength to get me through the week in one piece. and no surprise there, He came through on His promises!
being so busy last week, meant i total ignored the blog though, so we are going to catch up on two scripture verses together this week!
if you want to catch up on the first few verses you can do so here, here and here. take it one verse at a time, or feel free to just pick it up with us this week!

Here is last weeks and this weeks verses:

w e e k -  f i v e
And we know that all things work together
for good to those who love God, to those
who are the called according to His purpose
r o m a n s  8 : 2 8

THE FAMILY SECRET IS CONFIDENTIAL : 'And WE know...'
THE FAMILY SECRET IS CONSTRUCTIVE: 'things work together for good'
THE FAMILY SECRET IS COMPREHENSIVE: 'ALL THINGS work together for good'
THE FAMILY SECRET IS CONDITIONAL:
'to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

w e e k - s i x
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for
righteousness, for they shall be filled.
m a t t h e w   5 : 6

THE PATHWAY TOWARD THE LIFE BLESSING: matthew 5:3-5
THE PASSAGEWAY INTO THE LIFE OF BLESSINGS: matthew 5:6
THE PROOFS ISSUING OUT OF THE LIFE OF BLESSINGS: matthew 5:7-10

I love what Hawkins says in the introduction of this book talking about the 'Joshua Code':
'The Joshua Code  is a challenge to keep God's Word in our mouths through memorization and to keep it in our hearts through meditation "day and night"'.
"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night,

THE JOSHUA CODE | WEEK 4

Thank you guys so much for all the positive feedback on THE JOSHUA CODE  I am so excited about the fact that you guys are eager to memorize scripture together!

If you missed the first post and week three its all on the blog... it's going to get tougher to catch up as we get further into the year, but you can pick up at any time and memorize as many scripture verses as you can throughout the year.

Here is this weeks verse:

w e e k - f o u r
The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
p s a l m   2 3 : 1

HE IS PREEMINENT: 'THE Lord is my shepherd'
HE IS PRESENT: ' The Lord IS my shepherd'
HE IS PERSONAL: ' The Lord is MY shepherd'
HE IS PROTECTIVE: 'The Lord is my SHEPHERD'

I love what Hawkins says in the introduction of this book talking about the 'Joshua Code':
'The Joshua Code  is a challenge to keep God's Word in our mouths through memorization and to keep it in our hearts through meditation "day and night"'.
"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night,

THE JOSHUA CODE

have your heard of 'the joshua code'?
i had not until my future brother-in-law mentioned this book to me just before Christmas. i had called him to see if he had read a book recently that i could pass along to sp for Christmas.
he recommended 'the joshua code' by o.s. hawkins and said he was getting a few copies to gift for Christmas - including one to himself and one for my sister. so i figured if they are going to read it, it must be a good thing.

sp and i are now reading this book too.  it's a chapter per week- which is manageable, along with a scripture verse each week that teaches you the '52 scripture verses every believer should know'.

to hold myself accountable- sp and i ask each other several times throughout the week to recite the current weeks verse, or the one prior. it's a great way to memorize scripture together!

i have not been too outspoken with my faith on the blog so far. but when i started reading this book i knew it was something i needed to share with others.
so each week, it is my goal to share with you the scripture verse i am reading and learning to memorize!
hope you tune in each week to read and maybe even memorize along with me :)

here are the first two verses from the book to memorize:

w e e k - o n e
'in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth'.
 g e n e s i s  1 : 1

w e e k - t w o
'for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting lift'.
  j o h n  3 : 1 6

this verse makes me smile- it is my grandfathers favorite verse.
just recently he renewed his faith in the Lord and it was such a precious moment!

i love what hawkins says in the introduction of this book talking about the 'joshua code':
'The Joshua Code  is a challenge to keep God's Word in our mouths through memorization and to keep it in our hearts through meditation "day and night"'.
"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night,
that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success"
 j o s h u a  1 : 8

i hope you come back for more next week, now that we are caught up!

NEW YEAR || RESOLUTIONS

2014 snuck up and Christmas passed way to fast... and now it's back to full blown reality.
i'm sure many of you set your new years resolutions, goals and focus of the year...

today i wanted to share with you my two resolutions and a goals for the month (next 5 weeks):

r e s o l u t i o n s :
no texting and driving
must be at complete stop to view, text, use phone other than phone calls.

be more mindful and loving
i like to think i give my full attention and love to those around me when we spend time together.
but i know there is plenty of room for improvement!
when spending time with friends, family and loved ones, i want to be more mindful about their time, needs and feelings and learn to love and serve them better.

g o a l s:
more yoga
over the past few weeks i have let my yoga practice take a backseat. but its time to get back on my mat. breath, leave my stress and empty my mind and take the time to deepen my practice again.
over the next 5 weeks my goal is to take 16-20 yoga classes here and here.

more pilates
because of my dear friend kendall i overcame my fear and took my first pilates class in 2013!
tighten, tone and the perfect compliment to yoga - pilates at BEYOND is just what my body needed and what the chiropractor prescribed.
over the next 5 weeks my goal is to take 3 classes per week.

no alcohol. clean eating
for the month of january (as of 1/6/14) sp and i gave up alcohol. i did it last january and as tough as it was it was worth it. i felt great and lost 5lbs to boot!
also in january i am committed to 'clean eating' - back to 2 protein shakes a day and a healthy, non processed-food, lean meal.

what are your new years resolutions and goals for the month/year?!
happy new year to each of you sweet readers!

BIRTHDAY RECAP

its hard to believe that my birthday has already come and gone. why is it that days we look forward to for so long pass by so quickly?
my golden birthday was this past weekend and it was blast! full of love, loved ones, laughter and memories made!

i enjoyed a delicious cup of coffee and breakfast with my mom and sister before picking up sp from the airport later in the morning. he flew in town for a long weekend of birthday celebrations !!
we headed straight to brunch with some dear friends!
from there, sp and i decided to enjoy the beautiful weather dallas was offering that day and took a good long walk around the arboretum - it was so beautiful, countless pumpkins everywhere!
momma lane hosted the most fabulous dinner party for my 'golden birthday'!
all i asked for was family style italian dinner and champagne with my favorite people- and of course she went above and beyond! from decorations, a true italian feast and family and friends with new memories that will go down in the birthday history books!!

after a fun filled weekend with family and friends, sp took me out on a birthday/anniversary date at what might be my new favorite restaurant in dallas - savor
with the park all light up for the holidays, it was so beautiful!
the staff, the food and even the deserts were outstanding- its a must if you are in dallas any time soon.
we capped off the weekend with a glass of bubbles, of course, at lark in the park.
cheers to a really fun birthday with loved ones and lots of laughter!!

BEARS, FLEAS AND MORE

this weekend marked baylors 104th homecoming!
the game was against iowa state... and i can honestly say my mind was blown before the game even started.  we drove to waco and stopped for a few big o's before the game!

as we walked up towards the stadium and the now designated tailgating area i was taken back.... when i went to school there, tailgating was iffy. no tents, no big smokers or grills and certainly NO alcoholic beverages of any kind were permitted. now, it was like a big deal. people want to tailgate and all meet up before baylor games.... i could get used to this!
trying to get in the stadium was a different story... there were lines to get in to the stadium.. like there were not enough gates for people to get in on time to see the kick off. and once you were in the stadium, there were funnels of people trying to get to their seats, or lack there of. ya'll never in my baylor days have i seen so many people at a baylor game. it was over sold. people copied tickets and there were not enough seats to accommodate everyone. there were people standing in the isle and walkways... unreal...sic em bears!!!
