there is something for everyone- style and price wise!

CURRENTLY LOVING

fall

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 similar and similar // 8 // 9

labor day has already come and gone?! which means fall is around the corner?!
this year is just sailing by!
every year i have a hard time putting away the white jeans/pants for the winter months, which is why today i rocked them to the office --- summer is not over yet!! at least not in texas, where 90 degree days are not a thing of the past just yet!

but looking around (fall fashion) all signs point to fall!
this blazer in particular caught my eye, and had me thinking layers, cozy scarfs and hot tea!
it will have to be day-dreaming for now… cold weather will most likely not kick in until late October, that's if where lucky here in texas...

FALL INSPIRED COLORS

faux fur vests || 1. stein mart  2. h & m  3. sierra
chambray shirts ||  1. old navy (on sale!)  2. american eagle (on sale!)  3. madewell
jeans || 1. gap  2. nordstrom  3. asos

it only took a few short weeks for the colors in dallas to change to the most beautiful fall colors!
i was outside yesterday enjoying the fall weather (80 degrees?!) and snapped a few pictures of some of the colors around my house these days. the yellows and reds get me in the fall mood every time. you take what you can when the weather and season are not cooperating!!
as i was flipping through the pictures i was inspired to coordinate a few outfits with the same colors.
sometimes its fun to just add a few colors into your seasonal wardrobe that are not investment pieces but fun to mix and match with as the season change!

whats the fall weather like in your neck of the woods?!

FRESH, FUZZY AND FULL OF LIFE

f i r s t : happy halloween!
s e c o n d : meet these cute babies!!!
its that time of year at the ranch.... mammas are having fall babies!
look at these little cuties - they are so curious and full of life, almost instantly after birth.
every morning the cowboys have to feed the mammas and check for new babies born over night.
yesterday i went out with them to check on the mommas and there was a new addition.. this cute little bull was still sticky and wobbly but cute as could be!

after catching the little guy, they are giving a name (ear tag with mom and dad information)
they are measured, just like babies and then left back with their mamma to get back to nursing and playing around.
sometimes these little guys are hard to spot. when they lay down in the tall grass, they disappear - but the mamma will always go back and find her little one right where she left him or her. they know their babies cry just like humans.
to date 16 little have been born- only a few more weeks and all the fall babies will have arrived!
they are just the cutest- the little ones run and play around together, cant wait to see all of the fall babies

BEATING THE BOYS

its been a few days since the last post, but with good reason.
i've spent the weekend with my cowboy at the ranch - hunting. it's gone from bowhunting (which will last through january) but now it is also muzzleloader (think old school gun powder style) season in oklahoma.

so before we headed out early early (like 1.5 hours before sunrise) on saturday morning, the boys
needed a little target practice on friday night. since it was friday night, i made myself a hand-shaken margarita (via my uncle laynes recipe) and enjoyed the view.

that is, until the boys were done and i picked up my boyfriends 223 (handed-down to him from his grandmother) and out shot them both!!
girls rule, boys drule?!

BEARS, FLEAS AND MORE

this weekend marked baylors 104th homecoming!
the game was against iowa state... and i can honestly say my mind was blown before the game even started.  we drove to waco and stopped for a few big o's before the game!

as we walked up towards the stadium and the now designated tailgating area i was taken back.... when i went to school there, tailgating was iffy. no tents, no big smokers or grills and certainly NO alcoholic beverages of any kind were permitted. now, it was like a big deal. people want to tailgate and all meet up before baylor games.... i could get used to this!
trying to get in the stadium was a different story... there were lines to get in to the stadium.. like there were not enough gates for people to get in on time to see the kick off. and once you were in the stadium, there were funnels of people trying to get to their seats, or lack there of. ya'll never in my baylor days have i seen so many people at a baylor game. it was over sold. people copied tickets and there were not enough seats to accommodate everyone. there were people standing in the isle and walkways... unreal...sic em bears!!!

PRETTY PUMPKINS

this year my sister got all kinds of crafty when decorating for fall/halloween.
i think it might just have something to do with the fact that its her first home:)
either way, she was ahead of me with decorating pumpkins... there are all kinds of fun ideas for spray painting pumpkins over on pinterest these days. we went for a simple and easy version!
so monday when she had off for columbus day, i loaded up on pumpkins and we sat outside and decorated a few more pumpkins for around my house.

nothing a little spray paint and glitter cant handle!

here's what we did:
we sprayed a few pumpkins, while they are still wet, sprinkle as much glitter as you like.
let it sit and dry before moving them to the porch or indoors (spray is a little strong!!)

and when your spending time with your sister, sometimes things get a little silly...!!

THE BEST PUMPKIN BREAD

y'all - you know i'm not a baker right? it's not my 'thing' in the least. to be honest i have attempted a box-cake before and had to toss it in the trash. see, i told you i'm not a baker!
so yesterday when i attempted this pumpkin bread i impressed myself!

of course there were a few messes.. ie.. almost a cup of flour on the floor and all over my shoes, a coffee break was needed but this bread turned out to be the best pumpkin bread i ever did make!

here is the bread recipe i followed and ingredients needed:
adopted from simplyrecipes

1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup (canned) pumpkin puree
1/4 c olive oil
1/4 c applesauce
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 c water
1/2 tsp nutmeg
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp apple pie spice
(only because i picked up the wrong bottle off the shelf!)
**

and here is the best part...
the streusel topping you just have to make!
this is the recipe i followed and ingredients needed:

1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c all-purpose flour
2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 c melted butter

FALL TO-DO

my sweet friend theresa did a great summer to-do list that i admired, and now that she has her fall to-do list out, i was inspired to the same! so here's what's on my fall to-do list- the list grew longer than i thought it would, oops! heres's to a fun fall and checking off this list!

COOK MORE MEALS AT HOME
i love cooking from scratch - need to actually try some of the many recipes i've be pinning lately!

CARVE  PUMPKINS
halloween is not really my favorite holiday. ever since being traumatized by the chuck e cheese mouse all things costumes (where you cant recognize the person) are not my favorite.
however, i do like to part-take in fall festivities (love me some fall!!) and decorating with pumpkins is always fun. why not carve one or two for the front porch!?

KEEP FRESH FLOWERS IN THE HOUSE
its so fun to freshen up a house with fresh blooms. its harder in the fall/winter when most all you can find is mums. but i'm thinking a weekly or bi-monthly flower spruce up around the house is a good idea.

TRY A NEW RESTAURANT
there are countless restaurants in dallas. somehow it always ends up being a massive struggle to pick a place to dine at. why we don't step out of our box and try something new more often is always a mystery. but with this list in place, i'm thinking a new restaurant once a month is a good goal!

TRY A NEW COFFEE SHOP
just like the restaurants in dallas.. there are coffee shops galore!
these are two in particular i want to give a try: ascension coffee and the hospitality sweet.

SNAIL MAIL
i just love getting read mail in the mail box! always have.
growing up in germany and sending letters to family back home is probably where it all started.
so when mallorie said she wanted to be my snail mail pal i was over the moon!
since real mail puts a smile on my face, i would love to share it with more friends - we can't let 'real mail' die. handwritten letters are a treasure!

GIRLS NIGHT OUT
my roommates from college and i try to get together once a week. it normally ends up being once every other week. when we get together we always share so  many laughs and memories.
for the fall though, i'm going to plan a fun night out. we have a glass of bubbles, get a little dressed up and treat ourselves to a fun dinner!!!

WEEKLY WALKS
my friend kendall and i have been on a good schedule for the summer- here's to keeping up with our weekly 5mile walks even with the weather changing...

are you a list maker too?!
what's on your fall to-do list?

ROUND TOP || FALL 2013

for the love of junk - round top, texas, is the mecca of junk!!!
and if you love junk, live in the south- its a journey you need to take. add it to your bucket list.

this past weekend was the kick-off to fall antique week in round top and we were there to get our junk fix. it was as humid as you would expect... 95% humidity on the last weekend in september - totally normal. we walked and walked and walked for miles every day through the fields of vendors set up from all over the nation to see, feel, and smell all things old, rusty and peely.
it was amazing.

we did not come home with any major treasures but we had a blast non-the less
and soaked up as much time with the old stuff as possible!

if you are following me on instagram, i documented my gypsy look each day.. somehow forgetting day 3- the junk must have been really good that day!! but the hair down on day one only lasted until we walked the first field, and then the hair went up and stayed up for the rest of the weekend!
this little 'coffee bug' has been coming to round top for years.. the front of this trailer is an old VW bug hooked up to a camper. the guy has made it into a coffee bar! complete with a tip jar to 'slow boat to tahiti' one day!
the fields at la bahia are maybe my favorite place to start.
its not too big - it has amazing dealers and the prices are just right too!!
we stumbled upon a new, darling georgia peach 'kara' who comes down from georgia every year.
her set up is amazing. her style and finds are even better!
this year she loaded up some amazing bolts of fabrics- i wanted them all!!
if your are in or close to tyrone, georgia you have to visit this sweet girl - shes opening her own store!!
follow her on   f a c e b o o k  and   i n s t a g r a m
oh a texas country sunset.... always amazing!
stepping into this venders booth smelt like stepping into an old tackle barn- the old leather, spurs and cowboy finds were so fun to dig though!
and sheds... they were everywhere this year. deer, mule deer, elk, you name it.
they were selling it, decorating with it - all by the pound.
gather as many as you wanted and it was weighed on a big scale ... $13/lbs.
crazy what people find for free put a sale price one!
it was such a fun girls weekend!
the laughter, memories, margaritas and miles walked were all a blast- already counting down the days until the next show. might have to head back in the spring, if fall just seems to far away at that point!
happy junking all you gypsies out there!
