even without the snow, the temperatures finally dropped this week in dallas and its feeling a little more like Christmas!
one of my favorite things to do after a long day is snuggle up with my favorite faux fur blanket, a nice warm cup of hot chocolate (or maybe a hot toddy!!!) and favorite holiday movies.. i can watch some of the ones below over and over (and over) and they don't get old! especially the grinch (with jim carry) - real talk it's possible i've already watched it 5 times since the first of december.. or maybe its been 7?! lost count!

this year my girlfriends and i did a 'favorite things' gift exchange - and it was a blast!
5 of us participated and we set a $10 budget per gift. so in total we each spent $40ish dolor on 4 gifts and walked away receiving 4 gifts from the other girls!!

here were the favorite things:

colleen gifted {no. 1} - holiday gift towels from anthropologie
confession: i have a weakness for pretty linens, dish towels and napkins - thanks mom for passing that on to me!

callie gifted {no. 2} - lobe wonders and the best top coat nail polish
i cant wait to try the lobe wonders- being able to wear heavy earrings and not have stretched lobes.. genius! 
ps: your going to love this top coat! callie takes hers with her every time she visits the nail salon. less wait time while your pretty nails dry.

caroline gifted {no. 3} - chipotle gift card
we all try to get together for dinner twice a month. it's BYOdinner and we sit around and catch up, encourage and enjoy spending even just a few hours together with no distractions. without fail, caroline will almost always bring chipotle for her dinner - it's greatness she gifted us each a gift card to her favorite place :) 

kristin gifted {no. 4} - bio silk and pan scrapers
if you have not tried bio silk - do so now. i used it in high school and when we're on family vacation i borrow it from my aunt, to easy brushing out tangles from the ocean water.  it smells wonderful and it leaves your hair silky smooth!  
and the little brown square you ask?! it has 4 different corners and each are designed to reach and clean every pan, bowl, inch of your kitchen and cooking tools! 

i gifted {no. 5} - little jar with cinnamon-sugar blend, celebration coffee, frother and tumbler
i mixed a few things together to put together my 'favorite things'. most mornings i make a nespressso coffee with a little steamed/frother milk, topped off with a little cinnamon-sugar bland. 'fancy' coffee as my mimi calls it! so i put together all the things needed to make the 'fancy' coffee.
ps: i bought one 1lbs bag of coffee and snagged 4 extra coffee bags and divided it into four:)

i found these super snugly and inexpensive blankets at ikea and couldn't resist not getting each of the girls one! then i did a little searching on pinterest and found these adorable (and free) printable tag fit for the occasion! then i gave them the option to have their blankets personalized by yours truly from our little monogram shop :)

i am loving all things garland this year!
we put a $3 target find -very merry- over the  kitchen window. i got some darling tiny jingle bell garland on the sale table at anthropologie a few years ago, its on the tree this year!! there are so many cute options out there... i'm putting the finishing touches on this scripture advent calendar (garland style of course) and there are so many cute options on etsy... this christmas tree garland with gold glitter stars... adorable!  oh and this gold glitter deer garland- how cute would this be for the bar?!

do you love garland, glitter, tinsel and pretty ribbons and paper as much as i do?! ugh, i think its a problem!
i did find some of the most wonderful wrapping paper at home goods this year (by the way, homegoods is my total weakness.. my sister and i have been known to make a weekly trek there...!)

winter swooped in full force yesterday into dallas. crazy winds, temps dropped like 40 degrees. madness i tell ya!
you've been reading my last few posts, so you know i love layers.. and layering with a scarf is like layering your necklaces in the winter if you ask me. not that you should wear more than one scarf, but you should layer your scarf over your outfit and keep it on all day for color:) the blanket scarf accessory jane has in her november collection is still on my radar!

i'm a big coffee drinker, but too much caffeine in the afternoons keeps me buzzin' too late at night. so to still sip on warm liquids, i overdose on teas during the fall and winter months. yogi teas are so yummy - and you can buy them on amazon, that was easy.

and since everyone likes to turn on the heater, the air is dry, so my lips and hands and cuticles dry out super fast.. so i like to keep plenty of moisturizing lotion and lip balm options in my purse - and at my desk i keep a little bottle of cuticle oil, and i apply it every morning when i get to my desk while my emails load.

a day late on the post about my currently loving and its not a #workday to #weekend theme, but it still has some of my favorite finds of the week!

these delicate little bracelets are always on my arm. i wear two and they are the perfect touch of 'girly' everyday accessory.
i am excited to change out my summer to winter closet this weekend. yes, my closet is so very tiny, that i have to keep the 'off season' packed up in my unused suitcases and then swap it out for the current season when the temperatures change. its a little 'chritmas morning feeling' when i unpack the bags, cuz there are somethings that i forget i even had! i am most excited about the vests i have packed away- but i  might just have to add this one in navy to my collection!!
as for my nails these days, im hooked to my new gelish addiction! my friend gave me the 'must haves' to do it at home on your own, and i love everything about it. and oddly enough, when i do a gelish manicure at home, it lasts way longer then when i get one at the salon.

this week i wore a great pencil skirt i found at target this summer, with a tribal print; a favorite (go-to) chambray shirt and some comfortable boots- my favorite look of the week for sure. so why not make the 'currently loving' board: tribal on a weekday and on the weekend! i think the weekend picks are going to be my next brunch look!

its wednesday again - almost through another week at the office!
but first lets get out of office clothes and into something a little more comfortable for the weekend!
one of the first things i do when i get home after work: loose the heels, loose the bra. yup, i said it. but really, who wants to be in a bar all day?! its the worst. so a slim fitting tank if my weekend go-to under most anything;) and if i cant be barefoot for whatever reason, i will be in supergas or converse (monogrammed converse of course).

sneaking out for a long weekend away is something we end up doing quite often. 

so when thursdays come around, i try to keep  my work attire to comfortable and flexible for a road trip weekend get-away!

i am currently loving these wax coated jeans (pull-ons, yes pull-ons!!) don't knock em till you've tried em ladies! i was skeptical at first too, but melted into these jeans the first time i was convinced to try them on! 

i have a josie camo mz wallace bag.  love her. when i first got her over two years ago now, i took her everywhere with me and documented all of her adventures. now that its fall, its time for josie to come out of the dust bag again!

but i've had my eyes on 'andie' for a few weeks now... oh andie- i feel like you would be the perfect addition to my mz wallace collection! a girl can never have too many favorite bags, right?!

and if your wondering.. jet black nails at the office?! it's only ok it it's a good manicure; chipping and any kind of black peely action is no bueno.

but zara home, never fails to disappoint either. hello pretty home decor everywhere! they do not have a zara home in dallas, but they had one where i lived in germany and spain and it was divine every time i stepped foot inside their store!

hello fall, hello pretty new prints to welcome fall!
layers, layers and more layers are my favorite for the fall. layering dresses with pretty sweaters and blazers are a fun way to kick off the first few cool-ish days of the season.
these prints mixed with fun heels have me feeling all kinds of fall-inspired today.

my fav combo is dress number four with heels number nine!
giving up the easy, go-to, summer maxi is something i miss most in the fall. but in texas we thankfully get a few warm days in the fall months - that's when you will for sure catch me in a maxi paired with a jean jacket and comfortable sandals.

i know fall is just around the corner, and i should be more excited about fall colors, like cranberry, hunter green, and blacks, but i must be needing to get a little more summer color out of my system! maybe it's while the 'tan' is still there, i feel like blush is still ok?!

this weeks 'currently loving' all came together because of this clare v clutch.
i started checking out clare v's collection a few months and have had them on my radar every since! it reminded my of my 'go-to' clutch i got a few years ago while traveling in Australia - its a cowhide clutch, with gold splatter specs on it.
kind of like the cowhide rugs with metallic that are everywhere right now.

fashion week is happening in new york… and while high fashion runway is not quite my style, DVF and her amazing collections, thought for effortless style and comfort are always my favorite! one of the dresses she sent down the runway this year, and what she was wearing caught my eye! so since this dress is not available yet, i thought i would put together a few looks inspired by its beauty!

getting back to an every day work routine has not been easy. getting back into a work and blogging routine/schedule has been even harder!
so bare with me if the blog posts only slowly get back on to a regular schedule...!

going back to a office job was not an easy decision to make. but working for a grassroots non-profit came with its own list of risks, including no guarantee for always being funded. so the bills had to get paid and an opportunity came up that was too good for me to pass up or not at least give it a good try!
the part that was not difficult however, was 'back to work' shopping! working from home for the past two and a half years was a wonderful excuse to save money by not buying heels and cute dresses on the regular. but having a reason to re-load and reevaluate my closet for getting back on track was great!
I didn't go crazy on all things new... I did a deep cleaning in my closet, putting together new outfits and new options based on what I already had. but I did add a few new fun items! 
like this great pair of heels - they were on sale, with an additional 20% off - how could I NOT!? they push the envelope just a little, but under a pair of pants, they are the perfect transition from office to happy hour or dinner!

what are some items you added to your closet for 'back to school' ?!

oh, and I will always find an excuse for a new mug. like new desk = new mug. THIS mug is going to be a favorite for a long time. its such a great reminder of how to start off your day!!

eek! all things white with hints of gold are on my 'currently loving' list this week!
its just comforting all around.. in the house, in the office and really just every day- all the time.

from the prints, to the rug, the mugs and even down to the knobs - i'm craving all of this.
especially a coffee table with gold accents. i think it takes a room with darker colors to an instant bright, light and open feeling.
